10 Things You Might Do That Will Make A Bad First Impression On Someone

Whether you’re going on a first date, heading to a job interview, meeting your partner’s parents or even just meeting your BFF’s friends, one things for sure: you probably want to make a good first impression.
First impressions are obviously important because most people will judge you based on how you were when they first met you. They’re especially important when you’re doing something like an interview, where you really only have one chance to win someone over. But the pressure of making a good first impression can be a lot to handle, and so a lot of us end up making mistakes.
I’ll be honest with you guys, I’m pretty bad a first impressions. It’s probably because I’m quiet and generally awkward, and I never really know how to act around new people I don’t quite feel comfortable with yet. I’m sure a lot of you are in the same boat. If you’re like me, here are 10 things you’re probably doing that are making a bad first impression – you might not even realize it’s happening!

Crossing Your Arms Over Your Chest

A very smart guy I dated a while ago once gave me a piece of advice I will never forget. I'm a shy girl, and I have a bad habit of standing in a public place with my arms crossed over my chest - it makes me feel safe. But one day we were out, and he pulled me aside, and said, "Why are your arms like that?" I had no idea what he meant, and he said, "Never stand with your arms crossed. It makes you look unapproachable, and you're not unapproachable! It makes people feel weird about getting to know you because it seems like you don't want to get to know anyone." I was a little taken aback, but I knew he was right. Body language is really important. Standing with your arms tightly crossed over your chest makes you look closed off - and when making a first impression, you want to look open and friendly.

Staring At Your Phone The Whole Time

It's rude to sit there and stare at your phone in any kind of social situation, but it's especially rude when you're in a situation where you're first meeting someone and trying to make a good first impression. If you're giggling at text messages or scrolling through Instagram, you look like you have zero interest in that person and what you're supposed to be doing. You look like you would rather be anywhere else. Even if you are listening, it seems like you're not. Put the phone down and focus your attention on the person, or people, in front of you. They'll be flattered that you seem interested, and that makes them like you.

Acting Fake and Trying Too Hard

Don't act like someone you're not to try to impress anyone. People can sense when you're trying too hard (even if you think you're being slick), and no one likes it or appreciates it. Be yourself! It's more genuine, and people can also sense when you're being genuine - and everyone likes that. If someone doesn't like you for who you are, then whatever, who cares.

Looking Like You Just Rolled Out Of Bed

As much as I'd like to say appearance doesn't matter, the fact is is that it does. People will judge you based on what you look like, and if this is someone you're really trying to impress, you should try to look presentable for them. It shows that you respect them and their time, and it also shows that you respect yourself enough to put a little time into your appearance. This doesn't mean you should dress up like someone you're not. Stay true to your personal style, but wear something a little special. Basically, stay away from sweatpants. Spritz yourself with a little perfume. Brush your teeth. Fix your hair. Easy stuff like that.

Making Inappropriate or Rude Jokes

When you meet someone for the first time, you have no idea what's going on in their life. You don't know what makes them angry, you don't know what is a trigger for them, and you don't know what kind of tough stuff they have to deal with. So it's best to steer clear of anything that could come off as offensive or inappropriate. Be polite. Don't make rude jokes that might portray you in the wrong way. Try not to be ignorant.

Not Making Eye Contact

Numerous studies have shown that making eye contact is super important when trying to make a good first impression. So, obviously, if you don't make eye contact, you're not going to make a good first impression. This one is really hard for me because I think eye contact is so awkward with anyone other than my boyfriend. But I just force myself to do it. It gives off an air of confidence and makes it seem like you're interested in getting to know this person. You shouldn't sit there staring into their eyes throughout the entire meeting - that's weird. I try to hold eye contact for about 30 seconds, let my eyes flit around the room, then go back to eye contact.

Not Smiling

Studies also always show that smiling makes for a good first impression. I mean, who thinks great things about someone they barely know who just stood there looking miserable? Not many people. You don't have to stand there with a huge grin on your face the entire time, but smile when you make introductions, and when it's appropriate throughout the conversation. Also, keep your face generally pleasant even when you're not grinning. Try to avoid bitchy resting face, something I struggle with.

Invading Someone's Personal Space

Personal space is important to some people, not so important to others. But you don't know what this person's deal is, so until you do, respect their personal space. I'm kind of okay with a stranger hugging me hello or goodbye, but a lot of people aren't. Just be polite without being too handsy.

Is Your Hair Color Keeping You from Mr. Right?

hair color mr right

I've always felt like a redhead, though I certainly wasn't born one.
In fact, I've been dyeing my once-mousy hair this crazy red shade — think Moira Shearer in The Red Shoes — for the past decade.
Do you know how difficult this color is to maintain? Within two weeks there's more bright sienna on my towels than on my head, and the whole effect is muted considerably.
And while maintenance may be cheaply and easily acquired (thanks, Garnier Hot Tamale), finding a man who can commit is not.
I live in New York City, which has a surplus of 200,000 single women to available men, and I have a history of attracting musicians on tour, homeless artists, polyamorist DJs, and, well, you get the picture. Until my male friend brought it up, I never considered the fact that my hair could be partly to blame.
"Go on."
"Well, when your hair is so vivid a color, it's kind of like a tattoo. It suggests an alternative lifestyle."
"Alternative to boring!"
"Alternative to serious. A lot of men are just intimidated by flashy. They want understated and down-to-earth."
He has a point. My personality seems big enough without the added Lucille Ball reference. And while it suited me as a girl of 29, now that I've entered my 30s, I'll admit it: I actually want to find a nice doctor to settle down with. A mere glance at my Facebook wall reveals that all my friends in new relationships are blonde, and all the engaged-to-be-marrieds just happen to be brunette. Coincidence? I think not! It is clear: I have to change my hair color.
My journey begins at Eva Scrivo's Bond Street salon, a welcoming space with very few men around. (I love an all-female environment when it comes to my salons — blame Steel Magnolias.)
In the flesh, Eva is one of the most glamorous-as-she-is-brilliant women I've met. Imagine Catherine Zeta-Jones wielding scissors with surgical precision and mixing color like Vermeer. When I confess my newfound theory that my hair color might be a man repellent, Eva suggests I test more than one makeover: Over several weeks, I would try both blonde and brown hair colors and see what happened to my love life.

Do Blondes Really Have More Fun?

In college, my platinum hair went with all my vintage dresses. My hair muse then was Courtney Love, and I exclusively dated guys who rode skateboards. I loved the look of the punk debutante, but bleach is a bitch on hair, and I eventually had to cut mine super-short to prevent the breakage that came with repeated use. Eva and I agree that in the interest of not changing its length, she will dye my hair a less damaging brunette, and that we'll try out a honey-colored wig in the interim.
Made of human hair, the wig is custom dyed and highlighted before Eva cuts it into my usual style. It's a shade that will transform me into something of a California girl, albeit without a tan. In order to ease my transition, Eva's cool makeup artist sister, Vinnetta, gives me some beauty tips for blondes looking to catch a husband.
"Men like dewy skin," Vinnetta says as she applies a mix of serum and moisturizer to my face after misting it with water. "It works on their subconscious to remind them of what you might look like after sex. Like you just finished running up a hill — flush and moist." This means a focus on skincare and less makeup overall.
"Your date probably doesn't appreciate your expertly applied Russian Red lipstick," Vinnetta continues. "They just want a little gloss. Nothing to interfere with the kissing."
I like the sound of that, but I wish that men understood that modern technology now allows us to attain a matte, nontransferable stain, because red lipstick looks so pretty with a little black dress. Alas, their subconscious minds have not gotten that memo.
In public, I don't really recognize myself with light hair. I suddenly feel much older, like the kind of woman who doesn't walk her own dog. I worry the rest of my look doesn't really live up to my hair.
"You look like a lady attorney who just had a couple of drinks, and I'm a little intimidated by you," says Adam when I see him for dinner.
"Well, I am a lady, and I did just have a couple of drinks," I reply. "But is this a different kind of intimidating than the red?"
"It's more sexually aggressive, and yet, it's kind of icy at the same time," Adam says.
Undaunted, I say yes to a guy who randomly asks me out online. I just updated my profile picture and clearly, the blonde is working! "I date mostly brunettes, but I tend to notice blondes more often," Sean, a carpenter with a full head of curly brown, tells me over tapas. "They're just brighter somehow."
I suppose this is why I stood out on nerve.com? I ask Sean, who probably thinks I am oddly obsessed with my hair (wait, I am!) if he thinks brunettes are more relationship-oriented.
"I think the issue is hair dye," he says. "Everybody does it, but with brunettes, you often can't tell. I usually associate blonde with 'fake,' and that leads to this presumption of unwholesomeness. I would guess that most men have a blonde fantasy, but brunettes seem closer to nature."
This is a polite way of saying that women who appear to dye their hair seem sluttier to dudes, even if they are naturally towheaded. Watch out, Swedes! And "streaky-stripey" hair (Sean's word for highlights) also connotes a loose woman. Definitely the image I was happy to project back in the day, but I'm starting to think going blonde might not be the change I'm looking for.

A Serious Woman

The day I go brunette, my hair undergoes three processes. First, a balancing shade of red is applied to fill in the accidental two-toned look on the bottom of my hair. Then, Eva mixes a rich, neutral brown by L'Oréal Professionnel INOA, and follows with a shine-boosting glaze. Because INOA is ammonia-free, you can color your hair till the cows come home and there won't be that telltale burn on your scalp. As I contemplate the reality that these curtains might finally match the drapes, Eva offers up her patented dating advice.
"You really should be dating four or five guys at once. How else are you to know what attributes are most important to you? Most people only click over one thing — intelligence, conversation, adventure, great sex, whatever — it doesn't mean you'll fall in love. The person you give up all the variety for should be spectacular."
Four or five guys — was she for real? Single, qualified, willing men in New York City are notoriously hard to find. But my friend Janet, a natural blonde who owns an art gallery, assures me it's easier for brunettes.
"I'm the first blonde my fiancé ever really dated. His preference has historically been for Little Browns. That's America's Girlfriend right there." Janet is convinced the transition will be the best thing I've ever done for my love life.
After the blowout, my hair is super-glossy. I never expected a color I'd always associated with mice could have such a dramatic effect. It's sophisticated yet approachable. Perhaps I can assimilate into "natural beauty" territory after all! Guy next door, here I come.
It doesn't take long before I have ample evidence that men are in fact down with the brown. Guys openly flirt on the elevator and in line at Chipotle. I get several compliments on my eye color. It's as if stripping away the distractions allows people to notice my face.
My newfound confidence inspires my engaged bestie to set me up with a single friend of hers. Elliot is a handsome English teacher who — hold the phone! — seems really, really nice. We meet at a crowded restaurant, and the hours fly as we quickly realize we have a lot in common. As it gets late, we even make plans to see each other again, and I'm feeling comfortable enough to tell him that I'd recently made a drastic change to my look. I ask him what he thinks of my newly dyed dark-chocolate-brown hair.
"It's nice," he says. "I don't know that it makes a difference, though. I think I would have been into you no matter what."
When he says it, I realize it's something I really needed to hear. I've always used my beautifully fake, bright hair as a way to stand out, and wrapped inside that was a fear of not being seen. What I notice about having brown hair is that I'm more confident and less conflicted about the attention I get from strangers. Now when somebody stares at me, I have to assume it's not because of my hair. It's just me. I think I'll stay brunette for a while.

Three Ways to Escape the Friend Zone

Three Ways to Escape the Friend Zone

Most guys just don't get it...
They’re baffled when they act sensitive, polite and nice when they first meet a woman, then get slam-dunked into her “friend zone” — that no-man’s land where women tell you their problems and cry on your shoulder but won’t even consider dating you.
If you’re a guy who usually ends up in the friend zone, then here’s a wake-up call: your sensitive, polite, innocent behavior does absolutely nothing to create feelings of can’t-keep-her-hands-off-you attraction in a woman.
Creating that feeling requires behaving in totally different way. This in mind, here come three sure-fire ways to escape the friend zone for good…
1. Stop Making Excuses.
When you first meet a woman, don’t make excuses or hide the reason that you’re approaching her in the first place. In other words, your “stories” about wanting to borrow her phone, see what she’s reading or help her carry her bags? Guess what…they all increase your chances of having her think of you as “just a friend” right from the start.
On the other hand, if you want to ignite feelings of attraction in a woman, then you need to come across as potential “date” material right out of the gate. You accomplish this by being direct with her… preferably in a funny way (for example, turn the tables by telling her, “I get so tired of women wanting to get physical with me. You look like you’d just like to be friends, so let’s grab some tea.”).
Do it, and you make her feel intrigued, captivated, and interested instantly…instead of just making her imagine how nice it will be to have you as a friend to help with her phone and carry her bags.

2. Show Her You Have A Life.
Most guys come off sounding a bit shy and needy when they first approach a woman. It’s only natural and extremely common — but it also commonly triggers a natural response inside a woman that says, “Awww, he’s so cute. He’d make a great friend.”
This is why it’s critical to show a woman right away that, even if you’re the shy type, that you have a life. That you’d love to have some fun with her and see where it goes, but if she’s not into it, then it’s no big deal. You have a life, and you’ll just move on (as opposed to hanging around as a “friend” waiting for her). The best way to accomplish this is by not “asking” a woman out at at all. Instead, let her know you have plans and that she can join you if she’d like.
And by the way — make sure that you don’t talk yourself into rejection by “going for it all.” Don’t go on and on about where you’ll take a woman on an amazing date, and how much mind-blowing fun she’s guaranteed to have with you. All of this just creates awkwardness, pressure, and resistance…so don’t do it.
3: Don’t Wait too long to “Make Your Move.”
The biggest reason that a guy gets banished to the friend zone is that he waits too long to make his move with a woman. This means delaying “getting physical” with her, plain and simple. When a man does this, he sends two fatal signals: That he’s not confident, which is the ultimate attraction killer. Or that he’s just not interested in taking things any further.
In a nutshell…you know you’re interested in “that” way, but a woman has no clue until you show her. So early on, guide her with a light hand on her back. Take her by the hand when you cross the street. Throw caution to the wind and go in for that kiss. The worst that can happen is that she pulls back. And then, at least, you know where you really stand and can react accordingly (by either investing more time in her or just moving on).
Either way, here’s what it all of this boils down to: most guys know that once a  woman slam-dunks you into the friend category, it’s almost impossible to escape. From then on, they see you as a buddy, a confidante, a shoulder to cry on, also known as the guy she talks to about dating problems with guys that she’s actually ATTRACTED to.
So make no excuses when you approach a woman. Show her that you have a life…don’t wait to make your move …and YOU will become the guy who gets the date (instead of her thanks for being such a great friend).

Ask a Guy: Is It True That Guys Don’t Like Girls Who Are Smarter Than Them?

Dear Ethan,
I’ve been single for a really long time and I’m kind of confused as to why. My friends tell me it’s because guys don’t like girls who are smarter than them. Is this true?
Not true. So not true! Smarts are NEVER a bad thing – not in dating, nor in general. In fact, I personally find intelligence one heckuva turn on, and have gone out with plenty of ladies who I felt were smarter than me. So don’t ever think that brains are a hindrance to snagging a boyfriend – and don’t allow anyone else to tell you so, either.
Sure, there might be the occasional doofus out there who isn’t looking for any kind of mental stimulation. There will always be a handful of Hugh Hefner-wannabes out there only interested in snagging “trophy girlfriends.” But these guys are the exception to the rule.
Instead, what you’re more likely to have encountered are guys who are intimidated by your intelligence. Some dudes might feel embarrassed or nervous to approach you, given how eloquently you speak or how well you do in school. It’s hard enough asking a girl out – the task of impressing an especially admirable lady can be downright terrifying!
But an ideal suitor for a brilliant woman certainly doesn’t have to be packing the same intellectual heat she is. In any relationship, each partner will have different strengths and weaknesses, most of which will hopefully counterbalance one another. Having things in common is great, but going out with someone who sees and interacts with the world differently is often the most fulfilling part of any romance.
With that said, you also probably don’t want to go out with someone who can barely understand you – or worse, has no interest in listening to what you have to say in the first place. Such an incompatible simpleton might show you a fun time for a few weeks or months, but you’ll eventually tire of not being able to connect on any deeper level. Hold out for someone who has an appreciation for your wondrous abilities!
Good luck!
Ethan

10 Signs a Guy Is Too CockyFor His/Your Own Good

Spot the most conceited men on the market with this handy guide.

If a male in your dating orbital displays one or more of the characteristics below, run.

1. He talks about himself more than your most narcissistic friends talk about themselves.
Only men tend not to have interpersonal dramas that are sometimes entertaining to hear about. To avoid being bored to death listening to tales of his office job, eject yourself from the situation.

2. He’s incapable of making plans.
The Incapable Planner never makes or sticks to plans with you because he always has something "fabulous" (that's really not fabulous) to do or he's expecting something better to come up. Because he delusionally thinks other things > your company. Which they don't. Next.

3. He has no interest in trying to get your friends to like him.
He'll show up to the bar and expect you to blow him afterward, make no mistake. But he'll play buck hunter over chatting with your girlfriends.

4. He seizes every opportunity to imply his life is like Jay-Z's.
He's constantly talking about this "hot club" he went to or the time he air-cheersed Jay-Z from across a room. If he EVER, I repeat EVER, brags about buying bottles at a club, say goodbye.

5. He does not give a damn about you getting off.
And he implies there is something "wrong with you" for not climaxing in the eight seconds it takes him.
6. He won't go down on you.
But expects you to go down on him. That these men even exist is a horrific evolutionary abomination.

7. He assumes you're sitting around waiting for a ring.
And will snidely remind you of it everytime "the future" arises in conversation.

8. He keeps an up-to-date gallery of shirtless photos of himself on Facebook.
Even if he looks like Channing Tatum without a shirt on, his physique is not the front page of the New York Times — no one needs that many news flashes on his pectorals.

9. He brags about how many Twitter followers he has.
And when you mention the concept of "fake followers" he says, "Your FACE is fake." Because he would.

10. He only eats at $$$$ restaurants or McDonald's.
I'm pretty sure Paris Hilton has a rule about this in a book she "wrote" like ten years ago. In fact, if he does ANYTHING like Paris, turn and run.

5 Ways to Be a Sexier & More Confident Date

Confidence is one of the sexiest things about a woman. It shows that she has other character traits that men love -- the ability to stand up for herself, empowerment, good looks, and sassiness. Not only that, but confident women embrace their assertiveness over their own sexuality -- and they know what they want.
Confidence is knowing that you're worth a lot and that you have value to add. It's a deep feeling of certainty about who you are and what you stand for.
But dating, especially after a divorce or break-up, can leave women with their confidence shaken to the core. Sometimes being confident is easier said than done.
Here are some tips for being confident while dating.
Remember, comfortable is not the same as confident. To be empowered, you must get in touch with your innermost self and learn to feel certain about who you are and what you stand for. This can pull you squarely out of the "I guess he's good enough" rut and into a relationship you deserve.
Start small. The more confidence you have in a single area of your life (For example: I am excellent at snowboarding), the more it will seep into other areas of your life. It's hard to look at the big picture and say, "I WILL be confident in ALL of these things." So start small, build that confidence.
Fake it until you make it. Sometimes, the very act of approaching a great guy, or making eyes at someone, or taking that first step into dating, can create a cascade effect. The more you do it, the easier it'll become. And the more confident you'll become about doing it again.
Channel your inner diva. If you're feeling like you're blowing a first date, think of your favorite diva and how SHE would react. Pretty soon, that inner diva will be you.
Smile. There's very little sexier than a killer smile. It's your first impression, and it's likely to last a long time.

How to Make Him Want You

kyle kupecky | Tumblr

With the crazy lifestyle of balancing your career, your home, and friendships to maintain. You  may feel overwhelmed a midst the endless list of things you do in this thing you call “life”, you find yourself so busy that we seem to have lost touch with the sexier side of our relationship. Romance has been replaced by a quickie, a “good night, and have a great day at work tomorrow”. Perhaps you are beginning to sense you are less desirable as a woman. No fear, we want to offer you tips on how to make him want you.
Consider these as a way to awaken his inner craving for you to be his love goddess once again:

WHAT YOU SAY When he comes over, as you open the door…smile. Even if you had a terrible day, start by asking about his. Really listen and be empathetic to his expressions. Acknowledge his hard work, and how much you appreciate him. Men love acknowledgement. Remember to set a mood. Discuss problems or concerns when you both had a chance to relax.
PLAN Having a super busy schedule, it’s important to book in time for love. Drop hints about what you have planned for later that evening and how you can’t wait to mess up the sheets with him. Pick out something sexy to wear. Add some candle lights, music, even wearing the perfume he desires. How about taking a bath together, or a sensual message?
COMMUNICATE Discuss in advance the best time for your private little escapades. As life changes, so do our priorities, schedule, and level of energy. Find a time agreeable to both of you. If you’ve been in the relationship for a while, don’t be shy about discussing each other’s desires, fantasies, and fetishes. Create a feeling of excitement and anticipation. And of course those three precious words “I LOVE YOU” can also advance your cause.
TOUCH A hug and a kiss is nice, but being naughty is much more fun and arousing. Rub his chest and squeeze his touche if necessary. When you kiss him, mean it! Close your eyes and pretend it’s the first passionate kiss you ever gave each other. Holding hands is another way to display your intimate connection and commitment for each another.
MAKE HIM WORK FOR IT Men aren’t the greatest fans of control and manipulation. But giving it up too easy can take away his challenge to pursue you and may actually affect his level of respect for you. It has been said that the number one reason why men struggle with commitment is, that they can get sex without it! With that in mind, don’t make yourself so easily available. Make him jealous of your time by planning activities that don’t involve him. Don’t allow him to think you’re on standby, waiting to fulfill his every request. Instead, why not awaken his ego in a way that he will have him fighting like a bull to have you! Caution: using other men to make him jealous only compromises trust.
KEEP MAKING AN EFFORT Some women will argue that their man never tries to be romantic. They in fact are the one that always seems to make the effort. First, it’s important to remember to communicate each other’s likes and expectations in these regards. And if it still doesn’t get through to him, rather than getting upset or discouraged. Carry on with what you do. When all effort is made and you two are in ‘the moment’. Who will care about how you got there?

6 Subliminal “Tricks” to be More Attractive to Men

We know what most men find attractive in a woman on a very basic level: pretty face, curvaceous body. Then there are the other, more controllable things we know that make us more attractive: being clean, having nice hair, being well-groomed in general, keeping relatively fit, having a good sense of humor, intelligence, confidence. Most of these things are common sense.
But then there are the things that aren’t as common sense – little things that can subtly influence the way men perceive a woman’s attractiveness on a subliminal level. Here’s a list of those things. Isn’t soft science fun?
1. Wear the color red.
A number of studies have shown that men unconsciously judge a woman wearing the color red to be more attractive and sexually desirable than if she were to wear any other color.

One such study, conducted by the University of Rochester and published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, found that men would tend to sit closer to the woman wearing red, they would ask more intimate questions, and they would be more desiring for her attention. Men were also more likely to ask the woman wearing red out for a date, and more willing spend more money on that date. The study argues that men’s sexual arousal at the color red is a preference deeply rooted in their biologies; they point out that even non-human primates are more sexually aroused by the females who display more red.

2. Wear scents that smell of cinnamon, lavender, or vanilla.
Many women mistakenly assume men are attracted to the same kinds of “sexy” perfumes that appeal to women. In reality, a man’s sense of smell is very different from a woman’s, in both preference and sensitivity.  A woman’s sense of smell is often much more sensitive, and according to a study done by the Social Issues Research Center, it can sometimes be up to 1000 times more sensitive than a man’s for certain smells. So – as a study put out by the Smell and Taste Research Foundation in Chicago found out – it’s actually scents like lavender, vanilla, and cinnamon that are the most attractive to men. Alan Hirsch, a neurologist for the foundation found that the smell of vanilla and lavender were especially very arousing to men. Lavender (mixed with the smell of pumpkin) is sometimes even used as a natural remedy for men with impotence.
3. Tilt your head slightly down.
A study that was conducted by the University of Newcastle and published in the journal Evolutionary Psychology found that men perceive women to be more attractive and feminine when her face is tilted slightly downwards. Tilting her face upward made the woman appear more masculine, and therefore less attractive to the men in the study.
4. Look approachable through your posture.
According to Patti Wood, and expert on body-language communication and the author of several books on the subject, the key to using your body language to attract men is by appearing “very approachable”. To do so, she suggests standing with your feet no farther than 6-inches apart and to point your toes slightly inward. At the same time, don’t slouch. Stand straight and confident.
5. Send out clear signals of interest by smiling and laughing often .
Okay, so this one isn’t really so subliminal, but I thought it was kind of interesting anyway: studies have shown that a woman who smiles an average of 35 times is much more likely to be approached by men than if she were simply good-looking. This makes sense, since a study done by the University of Innsbruck found that reciprocity is a very crucial component in a someone’s perceived attractiveness – it even had the power of making someone who was previously judged “unattractive” appear “moderately attractive once there was acknowledge reciprocity.
6. Play up your eyes and lips.
A study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science found that makeup around the eyes had the strongest influence over a man’s judgment of a woman’s beauty. However, another study conducted by Manchester University found that it was a woman’s lips that was most attractive part of her face to a man. I’m leaning on eyes being more important, but either way, I think it’s safe to say that the eyes and lips play important factors in perceived attractiveness.

Change Your Mindset to Find True Love

Change Your Mindset to Find True Love?
Your mindset is everything when it comes to helping you find love. I’m not just talking about romantic love. I’m talking about love, overall. Love is a state of mind that either is or isn’t something you cultivate.

Wikipedia defines mindset as:
A set of assumptions, methods or notations held by one or more people, that creates a powerful incentive within these people or groups to continue to adopt or accept prior behaviors, choices, or tools.
Your mindset is how you approach the world. If you let it run wild, it will compel you to make the same choices over and over again. No one is exempt from having a mindset. We all have one. It’s like a filter through which you perceive your reality.
Your mindset, like a bad habit, has a shadow side. The shadow is devious and makes it tough for us to see that we have any particular mindset at all. It tricks us into believing that ”it’s just the way we think.” No big deal.
If you’re having trouble in your romantic life, it’s time to see if your mindset needs an adjustment. If you think your mindset might be causing problems, you have the power to change it. Like breaking any habit, it demands a great amount of effort and determination.

1. Have you created the right environment to attract love?
Answer the following three questions to see if your mindset is on the right track to finding love:
How you set up your life and personal space will tell you a lot. If you don’t pay attention to how you’re living and what you come home to at night, you aren’t “setting the stage” for the love you want.
Surround yourself with things that make you feel good. Make it a priority to always be around things that you consider beautiful. Your bedroom should be restful and inviting. Your home space should be free of clutter. Changing your home environment will change your energy and create a new mindset towards love.

2. Are you surrounding yourself with people who support you?
If you’re not seeking out positive, supportive people in your life, you will feel overwhelmed. None of us can do it alone. Regardless of how strong you think you are, we all need outside input and camaraderie to remind us that we are valuable and special people.
If you spend time with friends who love to gossip and complain, this negativity will rub off on you. These kinds of interactions support a mindset of being a victim to outside circumstances. You must find people who have a positive outlook on life and love. Surround yourself with people who see you as the wonderful person you are.

3. Do you take courageous action on your own behalf?
As women, we were not really taught the value of courage. Courage was something reserved for boys. But, being fully committed to loving someone and being vulnerable (which true love requires) demands that you have courage.
It’s not easy to trust another human being with your deepest self. It can feel risky. A romantic relationship will require you to have the courage to face the ups and downs of life. Other courageous actions you will need to take include speaking up for yourself, honoring your boundaries and telling the truth.

Your mindset to find love will change as you take action. It will be your greatest ally to help you find your perfect partner.

10 Unexpected Places to Meet Men.

SKIP THE CLUB AND TRY THESE PLACES INSTEAD

Tired of bars and online dating sites? It can be tough to meet men, especially if you limit yourself to looking for them in the tired old standbys. Hit up these 10 unexpected places -- with a smile and an open mind, you never know who you might meet.

Couple flirting at coffee shop

Hospital cafeteria

You have to eat. Cute, single doctors have to eat. Why not do it in the same place?

Grocery store

Everyone has to go to the grocery store, even single guys. To make this spot work, shop during guy-friendly hours (skip first thing Saturday morning), and cruise the man-magnet aisles (think: chips).

Bookstore café

Take your laptop to your nearest bookstore to browse for men. Sidling up to share an outlet is a great conversation starter. Hint: Go during normal business hours if you're looking for a self-employed or flex-schedule man.

Dog park

Hit up your local dog park with your pup before work. Popular parks are filled with guys and their dogs burning off some energy before a long day. A mutual love for all things dog will help the conversation flow.

Movie rental store

If your city is lucky enough to still have a rental store -- or even a Redbox -- flip off your movie channels and give your rental card a workout! You're far less likely to meet a guy while watching cable at home than hitting up a rental store.

Airport

I worked with a girl who met her now-husband when an airline lost their bags. They hit it off while filling out lost-luggage forms, and the rest is history! The airport is filled with people milling around, bored and grouchy. Make the airport work for you by putting a smile on your face and striking up a conversation with the nearest ring-free man.

The gym

Skip fancy spa/gym combos. Join a bare-bones gym, and you'll encounter more guys than you would at a posh workout center. Bonus: The monthly membership fees at these man-friendly gyms are usually much lower than at full-service gyms.

Volunteering

Sign up to do something you love: a Habitat for Humanity build, dog walking at an animal shelter, collecting signatures for a petition. Not only will you get out and among a new crowd, you'll be mingling with like-minded men.

Networking events

Yes, most people who attend these things are focused on work. But these events draw a crowd, a crowd that usually includes a handful of unattached men. Go ahead -- mix business with pleasure!

Standing in line. Anywhere.

The post office, the auto shop -- even the dentist. Wherever people have to wait in line, you're bound to encounter men. And because you're both getting stamps/oil changes/teeth cleaned, you have something in common already.
