Ring, Buzz, Ring: 7 Ways Your Phone Is Destroying Your Love Life

You won't believe what your phone is doing to your breasts ...
Since cell phones came into existence there have been a lot of rumors, facts, and gossip about the negative, and sometimes, positive effects of them. We all remember the days when the media told us brain cancer from cell phone use was evitable, right? But because cell phones haven’t been around long enough to really give us a good idea of what a lifetime of using them could mean for our bodies, what we do know for sure is that cell phones, and technology as a whole, are changing the way we communicate. We seem to be drifting further and further apart.
As technology continues to build a wall in between and all around us, it would make sense that our relationships might suffer. You might think it's not a big deal to have your phone attached to you 24/7, but you are very, very wrong.
1. It puts a damper on true connection.
Studies have shown that nothing says, "I'm not totally interested in this moment," quite like putting your cell phone on the table during dinner. It not only makes the person across the table feel less important than your phone, but it also leads to you "to judge the quality of your relationship more poorly." It's hard to focus when you’re waiting for a call or a text, so put the phone away. If someone really needs to talk to you, they'll call back.
2. It can make you impotent.
In news that will make anyone shrivel, shrink, and sob uncontrollably in the corner, studies have found that men who carry their cell phones in their pocket for a significant amount of time everyday are more prone to erectile dysfunction, as opposed to those who keep their phone elsewhere (attaché, maybe?). Doctors attribute this to either the electromagnetic radiation or the heat that the phone emits. On top of that, researchers have also found a "worrying link" between "poor sperm" and the amount of time men use their phones a day. Luckily, these studies are still in their infancy, so maybe in a couple years, we can laugh these results off as a load of bunk.
3. It's a total boner-killer.
Picture it: all is quiet, there's maybe some bad elevator music on in the background, and you lean in for a kiss, but, "RING! BUZZ! RING!" And scene. While you might be able to pick up where you left off, you have to admit that the phone really changed the mood. It may pain you to do so, but powering it down or at least putting it on silence will help keep things moving in the right direction.
4. It will make you sick.
It's hard to have a smooth-sailing relationship if you're sick all the time. Researchers found that 94.5 percent of cell phones are basically germ factors. Not only are cell phones home to at least one bacteria or another, but a lot of those germs found are known as "superbugs," which is a bacteria that can’t be cured by common antibiotics.
5. It will make your offspring a devil child.
Even if you're able to get over the obstacles that cell phones put in the way of successful and happy relationships, that doesn't mean you're out of the woods just yet. Studies have found that women who use their phones a lot during pregnancy are more likely to have devil children with behavioral problems. For your love life this means two things: If you're with the father of your child, behavior issues can add extra stress to your life and take a major toll on your relationship. If you're not with the father of your child and are a single parent out on the prowl, a difficult kid can make meeting someone new a tricky task. If everyone in town knows your child is the kid from The Exorcist, you can kiss your love life goodbye.
6. It's a drunk texting machine.
Whether you're drunk and texting an ex-boyfriend (even though you’re in a relationship), or texting your current partner because you're either A. Mad, B. A mean drunk, or C. In the mood to be a little too honest, drunk texting can really mess up a good thing. If that isn't a major factor in how cell phones can ruin your love life, then I don't know what is.
7. It can make your breasts lumpy.
If you're one of those women who keeps their phone in their bra, and apparently some do, stop now. Research has found a direct correlation between breast nodules ("solid, raised areas in or under the skin that are larger than 0.5 centimeters") and phones being tucked closely to the bosom. According to Dr. Stephen Sinatra, "doctors are now finding a rectangular pattern of nodules — many of them malignant — between the breasts of all to many unsuspecting women that have afterward admitted to stashing their cell phones" in their bras. Ladies, you have that Balenciaga bag for a reason, so put your cell phone in there instead.

10 Reasons why he's just not that into you

TIME TO
MOVE ON?

The powerful maxim, 'He's just not that into you,' has exploded over the past 10 years from a cute line on Sex and the City to a book... to a movie. Why is there so much hype around this simple, seemingly obvious statement? Because so many women still don't get it!

Ladies, before you start pining over phantom phone calls and missed dates, consider these hilarious tips from author Phil Torcivia. The divorced bachelor, who penned the wildly funny Such a Nice Guy, has a thing or two to say about why he might not be returning your affections.
Man checking out other woman
Don't be sad. It's his problem, not yours. I'm sure there are numerous men out there who are attracted to you and don't mind at all that you hog the remote, get text messages at 2 a.m. and pass gas in your sleep. We all have our little quirks. The key is avoiding the little jerks and finding someone who loves your idiosyncrasies. If that has become too difficult, find a good therapist, mix yourself a strong martini or see if one of the 10 reasons below applies.

1HE NEVER REALLY WAS INTO YOU

He just wanted to hook up. (Oh, stop sobbing. You've done it, too.)

2HE FOUND SOMEONE HE'S MORE INTO

It happens. Perhaps that lovely coworker he has been pining for suddenly left her boyfriend, whom she was just not that into.

3HE IS TIRED OF BEING DRAGGED TO CHURCH...

...and malls and family reunions and baby showers.

4YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS FRIGHTENED HIM

Maybe he sees too much of your mother in you already.

5HIS FRIENDS FINALLY TALKED HIM INTO LEAVING YOU

They whined, complained, and poked fun at him because, since you came around, he can't come out and play after dinner as often.

6YOU NAG... A LOT

Anytime you ask him to do something more than twice, it's no longer a reminder, it's nagging. Nothing makes a man want to run out of the home screaming more than nagging (excluding the obvious: A bad call during a playoff game or accidentally catching his Willy in his zipper).

7HE'S A SLOB AND YOU'RE NEAT, OR VICE-VERSA

You don't realize this until you share a hotel room for a week. Then, the unmade bed, clothing pile and missing toothpaste cap are sufficient reasons to check out of both the hotel and the relationship.

8YOU COST TOO MUCH

Hey, times are tough. He has to cut corners. His hand does not require expensive foreplay such as roses, sushi and La Crema chardonnay. His accountant advised him to rebuild his credit by sticking to solo nights in a dive bar with his nutritious dinner of happy hour draft beer and popcorn.

9YOU ARE NOT THE SAME WOMAN YOU WERE WHEN HE MET YOU

Remember that sexy number you were wearing? Those high boots with your designer jeans tucked inside them. That pink lace thong. The plunging neckline. Where did they go? Yes, you look cute in sweatpants, flip-flops and a trucker cap, but then again so does his uncle.

10YOU STARTED RATIONING THE COOKIE

You used to get busy all the time:In the car, on the kitchen counter and in the hotel Jacuzzi. You used to initiate. In fact, according to the police log, you had orgasms loud enough to register on the Richter scale. Now, instead of changing positions, you change the channels. He misses those days when you used to fetch the sex towel.
It's not so bad. Don't be embarrassed. You, too, can learn from this or at least become more skilled at faking it. But just accept it -- he's just not that into you.

10 Dating Red Flags That Should Send You Running

Going out on a date with anyone is a leap of faith. We trust that they aren't an ax murderer or a weirdo or someone bent on worldwide destruction. Most of the time, dates go bad for any number of reasons, both big and small -- he picks his teeth or talks about himself too much. You find there is no chemistry or he is simply not that interesting to you.
Sometimes, however, it's harder to tell. Sometimes a guy seems perfectly nice and there is some chemistry, but you still can't really tell.
For those situations, there are some obvious ways to help yourself know if he deserves a second date. Here are 10 dating red flags that should either send you running or make you proceed with extreme caution. Here they are:
  • He tips badly: Bad tippers are often selfish people. He doesn't have to be the king of all tippers, but less than 15 percent tells me he will be cheap and ungenerous in other ways, too.
  • He calls his mom and dad "mommy" and "daddy": My husband totally does this and maybe it's a Southern thing, but this is super weird to me.
  • He is disrespectful about ex-girlfriends/ex-wives: Every person has an ex who hurt them in some way and every person has baggage left from old relationships. But smart people learn from those relationships and find ways to respect what they learned. Someone who didn't wouldn't be great to date.
  • He is rude to waiters: Anyone who is rude to wait staff or people in retail stores will eventually be rude to you as well. Watch this one.
  • He doesn't read books: This could be just me. But when I dated a man, I wanted to know what books he read, and if he hadn't read any recently, that said something to me. Even if they were books I wouldn't have read (my husband reads science textbooks), I wanted a man who read SOMETHING for pleasure. I was looking for a well-read man who was intellectually curious. To me, this said he wasn't.
  • He smokes: In this day and age, smoking is just gross. No matter how cool he is, a guy who doesn't take care of his health isn't a guy I would want to be with.
  • He doesn't work out: This is really not a red flag for everyone, but for me, it's very important that a guy appreciates taking care of his body and working out as much as I do. My family is very outdoorsy and active and I always knew I wanted it to be that way.
  • He disparages women: A friend went on a date with a guy who laughed about some other woman's "fat ass." My skinny friend didn't take it personally, but she did realize that this wasn't a man who respected women.
  • He is not interested in the news: If a man can't talk about current events and has no idea what is going on in the world, he isn't the man for me.
  • He hasn't traveled or has no desire: To me, travel is one of the key markers of intellectual curiosity. A man who hasn't traveled or who doesn't desire to do so isn't a man I could see building a life with since it's something I couldn't live without.
What red flags did you look for in dating?

The Top Five Dating Turn-offs - and How to Avoid Doing Them

dating fails
We’ve all got our little date peeves, whether it’s a guy not listening to what you have to say, or making rude jokes. The experts at dating website TrueView reveal exactly what the top five date turn-offs are and how to avoid them:

Mobile phones
“There’s nothing worse than being sat across from somebody whose eyes are bobbling back and forth between their phone and your face. If this person’s investing his or her time to go out for dinner with you, he or she deserves your full attention. If it’s possible, keep the offending piece of technology out of sight altogether!”

Being too touchy

If you’re getting closer and the chemistry is fantastic, don’t ruin it by slithering your hands all over your date straight awat. Play it cool. If they're into it, they'll slide closer. If they're not, they'll slip away from your slimy clutches.”

Paying for the bill

“This is the 21st century and guys don’t need to pay the whole bill, but it’s definitely not attractive if you don’t even offer to split the check. Let this be the bill that sets the tone for the relationship and let this relationship be an equal one.”

Talking about the ex

“They say you should never talk about politics, religion and past flames on a first date. Absolutely under no circumstances should you talk about the latter - you don’t want to give your date the sense you’re still hung up on your ex or rant about how much of a jerk they are. This will definitely make things awkward!”

 Interviewing your date

“Please don’t ask your date where they see themselves in five years’ time, or what motivates them. Keep it casual and relaxed and start off with a compliment. Keep the conversation flowing by asking about your date’s interests and try to avoid talking about your salary or your accomplishments.”

Signs He’s Not Into You

Signs He's Not Into You

Yes, the old clichés are true: the truth hurts — and it also sets you free. Here are 10 signs that he’s not into you.
Sign he’s just not into you: He says he’s not relationship material.
Listen to what he says. If he says that he’s not looking for a relationship, he doesn’t believe in marriage, he’s not relationship material, or he’s just “having fun,” don’t try to read beyond those words. Either he’s not into you, or he’s not into commitment in general. Take him at his word and move on to someone who values relationships the way you do.
Sign he’s just not into you: He encourages you to date other people.
If your date encourages you to date other people, it’s not because he wants to experience the enlightenment that comes with multiple dinner-plans partners; he’s just not into you enough to want you all to himself. If he’s still dating other people — and you’re at a stage where you feel you should be exclusive — then he’s not ready to commit to anyone. If he talks about those other girls, then he tells them about you, too. A man who is into you will want you exclusively and would be incredibly uncomfortable at the thought of you making romantic plans with other men.
Sign he’s just not into you: He won’t hold your hand in public.
You kiss in private, but he won’t go near you when you’re out in public. If he doesn’t want people to think you’re a couple — he probably introduces you to people you run into as his “friend,” right? — you probably aren’t one, or shouldn’t be. Even PDA-phobes should be okay with the occasional hand-holding or back-touching. You want to be with someone who’s proud to be associated with you.
Sign he’s just not into you: He’s available — at midnight.
Unless your date works super-crazy hours and literally gets off work at midnight, there’s no reason why the object of your affection should only make time for you late at night. Don’t become his booty call, his backup plan for when cooler plans fall through, and don’t settle for the less-than-prime hours of the day. If he’s into you, he’ll prioritize you at an hour that doesn’t inconvenience you or make you feel insecure.
Sign he’s just not into you: He won’t make plans in advance.
Sure, it might be a little much to expect your new boyfriend to commit to a weekend getaway nine months in the future, but if he’s hesitant to agree to dinner next weekend or a friend’s wedding next month, he’s probably not invested in the relationship. If he’s “keeping his options open,” then you’re not his priority. If he’s into you, he won’t have a problem adding a few future dates into his calendar.
Sign he’s just not into you: He avoids introducing you to his friends and family.
If he cancels on your family, or neglects to tell you his parents are in town until after the fact, he’s probably not into you — especially if you’ve been dating for a while. No, you don’t need to meet Mom and Dad after date two, but when you sense an avoidance strategy, he likely has one foot out the door. A guy who’s nuts about you will want his family and best friends to know how great you are, too.
Sign he’s just not into you: He guards his computer and phone when you’re around.
Everyone is entitled to privacy. No one should feel obligated to give up passwords or make their personal email account accessible to anyone. However, if your date consistently closes his laptop when you enter the room, keeps his phone with him when he goes to the bathroom, and behaves in a paranoid manner when you get close to his tech devices, he might be the untrustworthy one, not you. If his behavior is making you feel uneasy and insecure, speak up. If he’s into you, he’ll want you to feel secure and at peace. Side note: If you’re madly in love and in a super-healthy relationship, the computer/phone secrecy could be a sweet “researching engagement rings” thing. So don’t freak out if this is the only sign he’s not into you and everything else about the relationship remains solid.
Sign he’s just not into you: It’s always your house or his, never both.
If you’ve never been invited to his place, he’s keeping you at arm’s length for a reason. Yes, he might have the grossest roommate ever and he’s just trying to protect you from rabies or something, but even gross roommates are worth meeting at some point — and hopefully even leave the apartment on occasion. If he can’t share his home with you, he’s not interested in letting you get to know him. Likewise, if the two of you only spend time at his place — at his insistence — watch for relationship laziness. It’s more convenient that you come to him. He’s not willing to put any effort into tying his shoelaces and visiting your abode. If you spend all your time at chez boy and he still opposes you leaving anything there, he’s not into you enough to want a daily reminder of your awesomeness.
Sign he’s just not into you: He tells the same stories over and over again — and forgets the important stuff.
Some guys are just forgetful. Some, however, are not invested enough in a relationship to remember any details. Does he tell the same stories over and over, so disconnected from conversation that he’s not even listening to himself? Are important dates repeatedly forgotten or shrugged off? It’s one thing to forget a birthday; it’s another altogether to forget a birthday and not really care.
Sign he’s just not into you: He doesn’t return calls within 24 hours.
First, if you’re the only person calling and texting, evaluate your date’s interest in the relationship. Secondly, if your texts are consistently not getting responses within 24 hours, he’s not into you. When you’re crazy about someone, you can find thirty seconds to respond, even if it’s just a quick explanation as to why he’ll have to respond in greater detail later. Don’t hound the object of your affection, but expect him to be respectful enough to respond when you try to contact him. If he only answers your calls when he’s somewhere where call-display isn’t available, it’s probably time to find a new boyfriend.
Biggest red flag ever: If he doesn’t actually ask you out, he’s not into you. A man who wants you will make sure you know it.
Looking back, what were signs in your past relationship that he wasn’t interested? How long did it take you to see the red flags?

25 Topics to Never Bring up on a First Date

Unhappy couple on date

LET'S
NOT
TALK ABOUT THAT...

Yes, it's important to be yourself on a first date. But, it's also a good idea to steer clear of a few controversial, gross or unintelligent topics of conversation. Here we list 25 topics not to bring up on a date.
1

Golf, or Tiger Woods

Golf is boring. Tiger Woods is a douche. You don't want to be boring or douchey on a first date.
2

Selfies

Resist the urge to ask him to take one with you and then post it on Facebook. It's a first date, you're not marrying the guy (well, not if you do this anyway).
3

Cats

I love cats as much as the next person (or more... much, much more). But that doesn't mean it's an acceptable topic of conversation.
4

Celebrity gossip

Save it for girls' night out.
5

Beauty and fashion

He simply doesn't care that you're saving up for an Hermes bag or that you're due for more highlights.
6

Sex

You just can't win with this one. Either you'll seem too promiscuous or too prudish. There's no middle ground.
7

Sickness

If you have an STD, now is not the time to bring it up (see #6), and if your dog is dying from pancreatitis, don't be a Debbie Downer by mentioning it.
8

Drunken escapades

Even if you think it's a hilarious story, it certainly won't make him think you're marriage material.
9

Therapy or rehab

While he may think you need rehab because you just told that drunken story that I told you not to, it's probably best to keep mum regarding any type of therapy or rehab until you get to know him better.
10

Tragic current events

Womp, womp. Instead, bring up a safe and neutral news topic.
11

Enemies, or frenemies

Wait, you have (fr)enemies? Do you live in a Glee episode? Besides, badmouthing anyone won't make you look like a classy lady.
12

Bodily functions

I don't care if you're a gastroenterologist — don't go there on a first date.
13

LOL, BRB, totes, adorbs...

OK, I'm guilty of this, and it drives my husband up a wall. For the sake of first impressions, please don't speak in abbreviations or acronyms.
14

Hashtag

I will punch you in the face if you say "hashtag" in verbal communication.
15

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Mention this as your favorite movie and you'll find out what it's like to lose a guy in 10 seconds.
16

Jerry Sandusky

Shy away from creepy, dark subjects. Plus, his opinion might piss you off.
17

"Who are you texting?"

Uh-oh, he has a stage-five clinger on his hands.
18

The future

While you're imagining what your future kids will look like, he's deciding between a Stella or a Jack and Coke.
19

Your bad habits

We all have them. Should your relationship progress, he'll see your bad habits in due time. Don't rush it. Just as you don't want to know that he pees in the shower.
20

Sister Wives

It really is a fascinating TV show. However, if he says he would love to have multiple wives, or says more than one wife would be a nightmare, he just can't win this one.
21

Interview questions

Asking smart, relevant questions is always a good idea — everyone loves to talk about themselves. But don't grill him about what he's learned from his mistakes or where he sees himself in five years or he'll feel like he's being interrogated.
22

Whole Foods

You shop at Whole Foods? He'll be afraid he can't afford you.
23

How you want to improve yourself

Whether you tell him you want to lose weight, purchase a new wardrobe or grow out your hair, it will reek of insecurity.
24

Bad decisions

Telling him all of your life's regrets or bad decisions is too much, too soon.
25

Belittling him

This isn't so much a topic, as much as a behavior. Don't belittle your date. If he orders sangria, don't tease him for ordering a "girly drink" (really though, you should be worried).

The Perils of Sober Dating

Is it possible to navigate the dating minefields without a single drop of alcohol?

One brave writer finds out.

woman drinking cocktail

It seemed like only yesterday: I was on a blind date with a friend-of-a-friend. She'd described him as "cute, successful, the total package." He was all that and chivalrous, too, rising from his bar stool when I arrived and asking if he could get me a drink. "Oh, just a seltzer," I said. Though he was already nursing a vodka drink, he didn't flinch at my response. But before we'd even finished the appetizers, his two vodkas had turned into four, and by the time dinner arrived, he was slurring his words. In my old life, I probably wouldn't have noticed — I might have kept up with him. But when you're sober, spending three hours with a guy who keeps trying to hang his jacket on the hook under the bar while he's still wearing it is torture.
See, I decided to quit drinking after a 10-year battle with insomnia and sleeping pills. Though never a huge drinker, I was a steady one — easily downing up to three glasses of red wine per night — and since I'd become hopelessly addicted to Ambien, I was afraid that alcohol might turn problematic, too. At the time, I was freshly single, and it had been a while since I'd been called upon to make awkward conversation with a stranger, play the "Who's Going to Pay for Dinner?" game, or watch an unfamiliar face lean in for a kiss. Was it even possible to make it through a first date without a single sip of wine?

For the first year, I didn't have to answer that question because I didn't date at all in order to get used to my new life: to have fun at a party without a drink in my hand, tear up the dance floor sober, and unwind from a stressful day by meditating instead of pouring a glass. But eventually, it was time for me to start dating again, so I reactivated my online profile. The first guy who wrote to me asked why I'd checked "Never" under "My drinking habits." I didn't think he needed to know about my sleep issues, so I wrote, "Alcohol doesn't really agree with me." I never heard from him again. The next guy did ask me out, but grew visibly uncomfortable when I ordered a seltzer on our date. "Aren't you going to have a glass of wine?" he asked. "Oh ... it says on my profile that I don't drink," I said. "It does?" he said incredulously. "I must not have noticed that." I never heard from him again, either.

When I vented to a guy friend, he said, "Well, you can't really blame these guys. I don't trust a woman who doesn't drink. Is she afraid that if she lets down her defenses her true colors will show?" Another guy friend weighed in, "Without alcohol, you have to work harder to connect on a deeper level. And if you embarrass yourself, she's going to notice." And another guy put it this way, "It's simple: Alcohol = less inhibited = I have a better chance to score."

Regardless, I started meeting dates in cafés instead of bars and making plans that took place at museums and parks. But inevitably, we would move on to dinner dates and I would be faced with the same conundrum. And yet I didn't want to add drinking — a fairly universal activity — to my list of deal-breakers, along with doesn't want children and still involved with his ex. How many guys was I going to reject when I was actively looking for a boyfriend? I got why people liked to drink — hell, even I mis-sed nights that began with polite chitchat and ended with us draped over a stranger's car. Those things never happened in sobriety, and it didn't seem fair.

One night, I was out with a friend in New York City who introduced me to a guy who was a bit boring — but indisputably hot — and as the night wore on, I thought, It's been a long time since I've had sex. Here was my chance to have a fun romp, to prove that casual sex was just as fun sober as it was with a buzz. So I invited him back to my place. As soon as we arrived, he started removing my clothes. I then realized that sex with a stranger while stone-cold sober is an entirely different concept altogether. I did not stumble to the bedroom in a happy, confident daze as my clothes melted off my body; rather, he unbuttoned my shirt, struggling with one of the buttons. I held one arm over my breasts and said, "Hold on, let me play some music." He sidled up behind me and started to push my jeans over my hips; I quickly straightened up, gave him a strangled smile, and said, "Um, the bedroom is ... in there." He tried to pick me up to carry me to the bed; I couldn't make my legs pliant enough to leave the floor. It was the most awkward experience ever, and the sex wasn't much better. I just wasn't interested in his personality, and without booze, I couldn't force my body to experience uninhibited pleasure.

For a year, I straddled my old and new life. On dates, I had to dig within to find confidence — and sometimes, it simply wasn't there. Instead of reaching for a glass of wine to calm my nerves, I had to reach for something else: a deep breath, a new thread of conversation, a little prayer. Used to telling men I was "an open book," I had to learn how to stop over-sharing. Did a first — or second, third, or fourth — date really need to know that I hadn't spoken to my father in eight years? For the first time, I understood that one couldn't know a person after only a few dates, and I should notice a guy's actions rather than fantasize about what our wedding would be like.
Then, a funny thing happened: I started to attract an entirely new type of guy. One who was unfazed by the fact that I didn't drink. One who didn't drink much, either, though he might cut loose from time to time. What stimulated him were good conversation and spontaneous adventure.

Not too long ago, one of these new types — a guy I'd actually been dating for several weeks — made dinner for me. After eating lamb shanks and apple tarts, we lay on his couch, watching a DVD. Suddenly, he said, "I have a crazy idea, and stop me if it's weird: Want to take a steam together?" Though we hadn't had a drop to drink — and hadn't yet seen each other naked — we raced upstairs and jumped in his steam room. Here's the thing: When you realize that a drink isn't necessary to abandon your inhibitions, you're privy to your real wild side — the part that feels safe enough to let go. Then you know that your confidence comes from inside of you rather than the inside of a bottle. Best of all? You get to remember — and savor — every moment.

7 Deadly Sins of Dating

THOU SHALT NOT...

Don't say that you weren't warned! Nothing can kill a budding relationship faster than one of the seven dating mistakes below.
Woman on bad date

1RUSHING INTO SEX

There isn't a universal right time to become intimate with a new partner, however, if you have sex before a man has had a chance to get to know you, then you risk him placing you in the "fling" category and losing interest. A man has to invest and appreciate your other qualities beyond the physical for him to want to make you his girlfriend. So don't be afraid to take your time and make him wait until it feels right for you; the "three date rule" is a myth!
2

OPENING UP TOO FAST
Likewise, it isn't smart to rush in and tell him all of your sad childhood stories. Although it's natural to want to speed up the bonding process, you have to pace the amount of information you share. You don't want to scare him off with TMI or convince him that you're a high-drama mamma.

3CALLING/TEXTING/EMAILING TOO MUCH

While it's true that we live in an age of over-sharing, you'll just have to trust us on this one and play it cool. Men typically enjoy playing the role of the chaser, not the chasee, so constantly calling them can have the reverse effect of making them less interested, not more. So put down that phone, slowly back away from the computer, and let him sweat it out for a change.

4SPYING ON HIM

It may be tempting to take a quick peak at his Blackberry, but there's no faster way to inflame trust issues than to snoop.

5FAKING ORGASMS

Faking is a like a harmless, little white lie, right? No! In the long run, you are actually doing both of yourselves a huge disservice by allowing him to think that his moves are pleasing you when they really aren't. Besides, what if you marry him? Are you really going to keep up the Meg Ryan act into your old age?

6EXPECTING HIM TO CHANGE

People do not change very much as they get older, especially men. So if there are numerous things about him that you can't stand, then it might be wiser to just change to a different man.

7NEGLECTING YOURSELF

While it's important to nurture a budding relationship, sacrificing all of your energy and time to it and ignoring your own needs is a huge mistake. Whether you're in a relationship or not, you should always love and take care of yourself first.
